Japanese Semi

This renovation unifies a semi-detached home for a mixed-race family, beginning with a Japanese-inspired bath and tatami room. Following the traditional Japanese rituals, the washroom is split into two: washing and bathing. Washing includes the sink and the toilet, while bathing includes the shower and the deep hinoki soaking tub.

On the ground floor, uneven layers of old tiles were removed to open a clear flow, creating a large kitchen with a breakfast area and a spacious dining room. Calm wood finishes ground the design, contrasted by bold colours and playful wallpaper in contained spaces.
