Flatrock House

Perched on a wooded hill overlooking the Beamer headland in Newfoundland, Flatrock House embraces both forest and ocean. Inspired by the traditional “biscuit box” house, its form is reinterpreted with a rotated roof aligned to the Beamer, framing dramatic views.

The entry weaves forest and stone into the home, while the inverted program places living spaces above and recreation below. At its heart, an iceberg-shaped kitchen island anchors gatherings, embodying the home’s connection to land, sea, and Newfoundland tradition.
